I wanted to write about a couple of important spiritual things that are happening.
First of all, Pope Francis has offered us a special "Urbi et Orbi" (To the City and the World) blessing. These are usually given at Christmas and Easter, but he is giving us a special one because of the pandemic. Here is a transcript of what he said at an address given in Rome.
Also, Pope Francis has offered us all a plenary indulgence during all the quarantines and shutdowns going on. A plenary indulgence frees us from all temporal punishments that are brought about by our sins. We believe that if we are truly sorry for our sins, and we go to the Sacrament of Confession (which forgives the sins and releases us from eternal punishment in hell), then the indulgence releases us from the temporal punishment which we would have on earth or in purgatory.
